As quickly as sometimes a hype around tattoo motifs arises, so quickly this is already over again. The tattoo remains known and sometimes leaves embarrassing motifs that you would have thought twice at the time. We show you our mainstream tattoo favorites of the last 30 years.

The wild 90s

The 21st century

Let's go back to the time when iPods, Paris Hilton and ringtones on Viva were all the rage. Tattoo trends have also evolved quite a bit during this time. Who can still remember star motifs and swallow tattoos? The so-called emo stars were arguably the tramp stamp of the 2000s, adorning the skin of every tattoo devotee from hip to wrist to neck. The swallow also enjoyed a high ranking on the popularity scale during this time. Whether in a pair or as a single bird, it symbolizes values like freedom and hope and is often found on body parts like the hip or shoulder.

2010s

No question, tattoos are becoming more and more popular. So today almost every fifth German wears a tattoo. So more room for more hot mainstream tattoos from 2010 to today. What would our ranking be without the ever-popular infinity sign. Whether with words, like Love or Faith, small hearts or a feather integrated in the sign. Each of us knows the motif, which passed a few years ago daily the tattoo studios of the time. We do not need to say much more about it, the pictures speak for themselves.

Let's move on to the next motif. I'll just say one thing: This trend was not only worn on the skin, but also served as a wall tattoo in German living rooms. Ring any bells?! It's the good old dandelion, spraying its pollen in all directions. Gladly even if these transform as if by magic into birds and fly away.
